Wood working projects

Showcase for model train

Description

The showcase described in this article allows is made of 5 shelves, allowing to display HO model train. It is possible to install two railway tracks: each of them can display between 2 and 4 locomotives or wagons.

Building

The top, shelves, bottom left and right side are made in pine. The back is a piece of plywood 4mm.

The windows is made of "polystyrol", that is a kind if glass imitation.

Router table

router fence tableA goo way to work accurately with a router is to have it fixed on a table. There are many systems available and, after several research on the web, I opted for the Incra Tool solution (by the way, I'm not paid by Incra to do advertising). I bought the following:

Planing abutment

It is sometime necessary to plan the abutment of a piece of wood in wood working. This is not easy to do without suitable tool. I built this planning abutment with scrap wood I have in my workshop.

The critical part when building this tool is to make sure there is a right angle where indicated by the red arrow.

For the rest, it is easy to build and the drawing included in that project are self explanatory.

Shelf for spices

This wood working project is a small shelf for spices my wife asked me to build. It is not a difficult project, but requires a little patience and attention to details.

Paper box in wood

I made this wood box to test my new Leigh D4R Pro. As I had several paper around my desk, an A4 paper box to collect them and put them in one place was a good start.

It is an easy project that can be made with waste wood you certainly have in your shop.

The box is symmetric: the sides can be cut together two by two.
